The short version
Core gameplay loop
Corsair Cove is a single-player strategy city-builder. Its central rhythm is to gather raw materials, process more than 50 goods, satisfy a growing population and send ships beyond the cove for trade, raids and discoveries. Space is intentionally limited, so vertical construction and short transport routes matter more than spreading every building across the map.
A reliable opening order
- Secure food and the construction resources needed for the next buildings.
- Place storage close to producers and processors so carriers spend less time walking.
- Add housing only when the settlement can support new Drifters and jobs.
- Build the port economy before committing to expensive expeditions.
- Choose Compass unlocks and Principle Paths that solve your current bottleneck.
The four Principle Paths are Notoriety, Empire, Seafaring and Wealth. They are not cosmetic labels: their unlocks influence raids, settlement growth, ships and commerce. Avoid spreading early points across every path unless a specific unlock immediately improves your plan.
Common early mistakes
- Expanding vertically without enough carriers or nearby storage.
- Recruiting faster than food, housing and jobs can support.
- Treating every good as locally producible; some, such as Wine, are raid resources.
- Launching expeditions while the home economy is already unstable.
